Rice Paper Boat

A large space-filling installation called 'Boat' which is composed of over 8,000 leaves of rice paper which was assembled by students in the space of three days, using thin bamboo canes to shape the rice paper, Zhu Jinsi is a member of the "Stars Group" of artists who turned against establishment, his first show in 1979 was considered the first Chinese exhibition of modern art.
I like the way the installation makes it possible for you to walk through, letting you get closer to the work, the Chinese symbol for 'boat' indicates the journey of the dead to the afterlife, I feel this instillation works on that as it is like a tunnel, I also like how Zhu Jinsi hasn't used the word 'boat' literal and instead related it to his culture.
