Cornelia Parker
Cold Dark Matte: An Exploded View (1991)
Cornelia Parker is a London-Based sculptor and installation artist, her work is regarded for it's complex, darkly humorous, ironic styles, her work is highly allusive and pattered with cultural references to cartoons, a style which she adapts to her need to capture in the moment before they slip away and are lost, Cold Dark Matter: An Exploded View is the restored three-dimensional installation of a garden shed exploded y the British Army, the surviving fragments, suspended from the ceiling and lit by a single bulb, which creates a dramatic effect and cast shadows on the galley's walls.
When I look at her work I can see the role of mass media, and the use of found objects makes the piece more interesting, the way she has placed the parts of the shed and the shadows they cast give the work a dark and ironic style that pulls your interest not only to the work but the surroundings as well

Drawing in space
Shaped from wire the sculptures created appear like drawings in space, delicate and fragile, Oliveire works with various types of wire, he employs their strength, colors and textures treating it like chalk.
I like the way the wire give the effect that the sculpture is drawn into the space, and although they are 3D they can look 2D depending on what angle your looking at them, I also like how they interact with the objects around them making you feel that they are coming to life.

Toshiko Horiuchi
Eureka moment of Japanese artist
Toshiko Horiuchi was an artist within "fiberarts" movement who drew attention for their love of experiment, and she discovered that art is suitable for practical use, the first project she created was installed in a national park in southern Japan in 1979, shortly after she had the opportunity of producing a 'Knitted Wonder Space' in the open-air museum of Hakone,Japan, Toshiko Horiuchi is convinced that its round shapes and the elasticity and softness of the materials that children like.
I like how she creates her art work for children, and makes them intractable while keeping the delicate look they have, i also like the use of colors and shapes as they give the feel of a closed in space while making the area still feel open.

Rice Paper Boat
A large space-filling installation called 'Boat' which is composed of over 8,000 leaves of rice paper which was assembled by students in the space of three days, using thin bamboo canes to shape the rice paper, Zhu Jinsi is a member of the "Stars Group" of artists who turned against establishment, his first show in 1979 was considered the first Chinese exhibition of modern art.
I like the way the installation makes it possible for you to walk through, letting you get closer to the work, the Chinese symbol for 'boat' indicates the journey of the dead to the afterlife, I feel this instillation works on that as it is like a tunnel, I also like how Zhu Jinsi hasn't used the word 'boat' literal and instead related it to his culture.

A Visual Feast
Challenged by Rosamasa.com to celebrate the Islamic festival Idul Fitri, Indonesia-based studio Mendiola Design Associates used a array of local foods and spices to craft a vibrant handmade piece, it was inspired by how Indonesian cooks mostly create food by hand, it symbolises Indonesian culture and craftsmanship, the studio took a handmade approach by sketching a rough layout in illustrator, projecting it onto a wooden board and then building the piece by hand before photographing it from above.
I like the way that they are using an unconventional media to work in y combining chalk and spices, i think that the way they have used the spices makes the piece more interesting as they have tried to bled the medias together.

Tony Ray-Jones
Notes on a small island
Tony Ray-Jones had a influence on the generation of documentary photographers in Britain in the 1970's and 1980's, in his notebooks that he left behind you can see his thoughts and ides, from the mundane, such as his guide to buying a secondhand car, to more professional thoughts such as 'Impressions of the North', and even sentiments about eccentricity, which he said was a point of pride among the British. while his subjects have been well documented, his perspective was unique among British Photographers in the 1960's, he captured the everyday, together with the bizarre and the rarefied.
Although this article isn't showing his work, i find it interesting to see how his thought poses and to be ale to see the thoughts and plans behind his photographs.

Rosher
Make-Up (The Halloween Issue) #104
Rosher
Ghoulish Glamour
Old Hollywood
Rosher is known for his high-fashion looks, and his Halloween take on a classic Hollywood glamour, he is inspired by Josephine Baker as well as Jean Harlow's sultry high glamour, which he used as a muse for the make up with spike, he aimed to create a look that suggested both femininity and danger. The pail make-up and use of eye colour creates a fantasy affect that give the who look a Gothic appeal.
I like these looks as they capture the old Hollywood appeal while adding a ghoulish affect, the fact that the models are so pail makes the makeup dominant, which draws your attention to the face, even though all the models are wearing large jewelry.
